This is going to be a bit of history for some and new for others. It involves one of the more infamous writings in BDSM and consensual slavery called the 128 Rules for Slaves. The original author, Jonathan Kay, is currently active on FetLife as Master_Flog. He has very kindly given his explicit permission to quote the preface or parts of it here.
I was in a discussion where some new people to M/s mentioned using it to create their rules. They were jumped on rather heavily as almost always happens when someone mentions the 128 Rules. They have been thoroughly vilified over the years. The list even made the news years ago as an exhibit in a court case trying a Dom/Master for physically abusing and assaulting his sub/slave. It was used to show what a bad and crazy person he was. It made great 'look at the freak' news items. I knew that the original author had the rules online but I had never looked up the site until recently. When you read what is there and the preface to the rules, they take on a totally different usage. The preface that Kay includes on his page is something I had never seen before. Previously, it has always been just the rules.

I consider the 128 Rules for Slaves a tool. I am also including the preface as a tool as well. Use it as a way to think about things you discover and about techniques for increasing or reinforcing the enslavement of your current or potential future slave. It is also a good tool for early in the process to gain information from the slave. This is a two-part tool which is in the information in the preface, not the rules themselves, which can be used as tools or parts of tools as well. I have omitted parts of the writing to concentrate just on the parts which are tools we can use. I might eventually do something on the rules themselves but this is sufficient for now.
I think much more highly of the whole thing now than I originally did and will be using it for more than just a menu of ideas I wished to incorporate in how I want a slave to behave or in what I want her to do or not do.

Context:
"128 Rules for the female slave" are written for heterosexual M/s (Male Master/female slave) relationships. While it can be converted for other orientations - the focus here will be strictly for Male Dominants/Masters and female submissives/slaves. Those who convert it to fit other orientations must give credit to the blog here as stated above.
