Rule of Threes

Apprentice

Humans seem to be neurologically best able to group things and process ideas in up to groups of three for understanding, communication and learning. Three connected descriptors create a more powerful understanding of something than one or two descriptions. We also most easily remember items, words, thoughts, numbers, etc, in groups of three.

Performing or practicing something three times in a row increases someone’s ability to remember it or to repeat doing it. More than three times within a short period of time has diminishing returns. More than three groups of three things is noticeable, distracting and annoying so don’t do more than that without something else between the groups.
